PSN Account for PlayStation PC Games?
A section of the official Playstation website that is attributed to PC games consists of information for users looking to buy Playstation Studio titles on Steam or the Epic Games Store states that players might need to create a PSN account in the near future. While there are some answers on the site which are absolute such as information regarding trophy support for PC games. PlayStation revealed that trophies on the PC will not sync your trophy list on your PSN profile, so that’s a bummer. But the words currently suggest that the situation might change in the future with trophy sync being added as a feature. There was a question on the site that inquired about the requirement of a PSN account to access PlayStation games on the PC and the site states: But that’s not all, the website also clearly states it’s currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS5 or PS4 version of a PlayStation Studios game to the PC version. We hope Sony does something about this soon enough. For now, PlayStation studios games such as Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War don’t need a PSN account. Players are also in for a treat as the upcoming release of the week for PC, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, doesn’t require a PSN account either. In contrast, players who get their hands on Xbox games like Forza Horizon 5, As Dusk Falls, and Sea of Thieves along with Halo: Master Chief Collection do require a third-party Xbox Live Account even though they’re available on Steam. But is creating a Microsoft or PSN account to access games inherently a bad thing? This could improve cross-platform information sharing as players will be able to access their in-game items, saved games, trophies, and achievements. Still, you have access to some Xbox titles such as Psychonauts 2, Minecraft Dungeons, Ori, and the Will of the Wisps that don’t require an Xbox account. But what Xbox does right in this regard is adding functionality for shared Achievements and shared save progress. It was in the year 2021 that Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO Jim Ryan issued the statement that they were planning to bring a plethora of games to PC. Since then, the company has published only five games so far to steam consisting of Predator Hunting Grounds, Horizon Zero Dawn, Helldivers, and Days Gone. Spider-Man Remastered will make for the sixth title that is due to release tomorrow on Friday. This will be then followed by the PC port of Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves later in 2022. And that’s pretty much it for today on Appuals. Are you excited about the upcoming Spider-Man game? Do you think Sony will persuade players to log in to PSN accounts on PC? Tune in next time on Appuals to find out. Till then, see you later and goodbye!
