Compute Power
The RTX 4080 scores 53620GFLOPS in the AIDA64 GPGPU Benchmark. This translates to around 53.2TFLOPS of computational power which is 25% higher than the RTX 3090 Ti.
Time Spy Extreme
Moving over to TSE, we see the RTX 4080 16GB pull ahead of all other GPUs. The 4080 scores 13977 points putting it 27% faster than Ampere’s kingpin 3090 Ti. All other Lovelace GPUs in this category are placed as per their ‘leaked’ benchmarks. All in all, the RTX 4070 might not be as powerful as the 3090 Ti. Infact, it may be much slower because even the 4080 12GB fails to topple the Ampere flagship in speculated gaming results.
Fire Strike Ultra
The RTX 4080 16GB manages to attain 17465 points in Fire Strike Ultra. This puts it almost 20-25% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti.
Port Royal
Port Royal shows the RTX 4080 16GB maintaining its performance crown against the 3090 Ti. With a 15-20% lead, the 4080 16GB really shows its colors. Pricing is a crucial factor, which really has shaken NVIDIA this time. The price-to-performance ratio offered by Lovelace is much worse than what Ampere currently provides.
Gaming Results
If this was not enough, we also managed to obtain a few gaming results (via Chiphell) from Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. The GPU on average manages to push 128FPS on average. As for the settings, the game is running at 4K using the Quality DLSS preset.
Conclusion
Overall, the RTX 4080 16GB really does offer a great increase over the RTX 3090 Ti. However, the pricing just isn’t suitable for most gamers. Besides, many enthusiasts suggest buying an RTX 4090 if you’re spending $1200 in the first place for a GPU.
