Therefore, those who have invested in an Xbox Series X or a PlayStation 5 may rest easy knowing that you won’t have to deal with low frame-rates.  Kieran Crimmins, the creative director of Criterion Games, has said that Need for Speed Unbound will support 4K resolution and 60FPS industry-standard gameplay on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. At this time, we don’t know the Xbox Series S‘s native resolution for this game, though it is speculated that according to its capabilities, the game should run at 60 frames here too. The prequel to Unbound, Need for Speed: Heat, also used the Frostbite engine and fared rather well in most respects. Following suit, Unbound’s various vehicles should feel more responsive than ever thanks to improved physics operating at a smoother framerate. First seen in the trailer published this week, the revamped visual aesthetic is supposed to represent the series’ return to its street racing origins. The game’s focus on graffiti and street art extends to how it plays, and with the game now running at a higher refresh rate, fans are indeed in for a treat.  It is, however, too soon to make a judgment, as we will have to wait for the full game to see just how well Criterion has implemented the ideas shown in the trailer. Plus, it’s great to see Unbound follow the industry norm of 60 FPS since previous Need for Speed games opted for 30 FPS despite most of its rivals pushing 60. Pre-orders for Need for Speed Unbound begin on November 29, 2022, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
