Dead Island 2 Finally Gets a Release Date
Dead Island 2 literally popped out of existence and we forgot about it. But after eight years of silence, it’s risen out of the ashes to give us a release date for next year, which is pretty amazing. Dead Island literally set the standard for apocalyptic action-packed zombie games with the plethora of ridiculous weapons to beat the hell out of zombies. While the game went dark after 2014, we got to enjoy the next generation of zombie games featuring Dying Light that gave us explorable rooftop slums and cityscapes as you went up against zombies with ridiculous weapons and guns along with outrunning volatiles in the dead of night. But now, it’s time for Dead Island 2 to see the light of the day. There were hints that the elusive zombie-bashing video game is still in development. The leaks have, well, leaked sporadically, causing spillage of information.
— Wario64 (@Wario64) August 18, 2022 Dead Island 2 will be set in Los Angeles and is set to feature six playable characters. You’ll get the opportunity to customize each of the character’s abilities by using a skill system. This will allow you to create dozens of builds that all play differently and give you a unique gameplay experience for every run of the game. Players will also get to bash and enjoy several varieties of zombies. Each zombie type will get its very own mutations, attacks and different LA-themed designs. The description goes on to emphasize the game’s violence, promising that the game will portray the most intense, visceral and gory first-person experience possible. If what the game’s description states are true, Dead Island 2 will give Dying Light 2 a run for its money, though the game has long since been released. Dead Island 2 might differ from what we saw back in 2014. The game’s theme featured a sunny and happy zombie-infested LA, but that might change in the eight years of its development. It appears that the game has switched developers nearly six times since it was first heard of in 2014. Dead Island 2 was originally under development by the Studio behind Spec Ops: The Line, Yager. That was until Sumo Digital got their hands on the game, the Studio behind Sackbody: A Big Adventure. The Studio announced that it was taking ownership of the project back in 2016. However, in 2019, THQ Nordic revealed that Homefront: The Revolution developer Dambuster Studio was developing the game. That doesn’t seem to inspire a whole lot of confidence, considering Homefront: The Revolution wasn’t received all that well. Nonetheless, we expect that some major changes have been made to the game ever since Dambuster took over the project. For starters, the roster of playable characters has been expanded to a total of six in contrast to the four that were initially announced back in 2014. It’s a relief that the game will focus on hard-hitting melee combat just like the original game did. According to further details revealed by the listing, the Day One Edition of Dead Island 2 will include the Memories of Banoi DLC pack. You’ll also get an in-game baseball bat, a character skill card, a club and weapon perks. Will Dead Island 2 be all that everyone hoped for till we all forgot about it? Will we get an experience superior to Dying Light and Dying Light 2, and will the game live up to its expectations? Surely the in-game screenshots look spectacular, and the zombie variety looks breathtaking, if I’m being honest. All the zombies look like original characters, and a lot of effort has gone into the game clearly. Let’s hope it’s as good as it looks in the screenshots. We can only be sure after the game releases. Although, we expect that there would be no goats this time around, as Goat Simulator 3 made a reveal trailer for the game that was clearly inspired, if not plagiarized, straight out of the original Dead Island 2 Reveal trailer for E3 2014. And that’s pretty much it for the Dead Island 2 release date and details. Dead Island 2 is set to release on February 23, 2022, and fans are pretty much-going nuts over this announcement, and we hope you are too. Are you excited for Dead Island 2?
