Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta Rampant With Cheaters and Hackers

With the open beta for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 up and running, fans expected to have an enhanced multiplayer experience but it’s sad to say that their experience is being ruined by cheaters and hackers that have already managed to bypass Call of Duty’s anti-cheat software. This isn’t an isolated incident and has been all too common for all of the latest entries in the Call of Duty series. In fact, previous betas for Vanguard and Black Ops: Cold War ran into similar issues. The same goes for Call of Duty Warzone which was plagued with wallhacking and aimbotting issues despite the release of an anti-cheat software built in-house by Activision. While cheating has been a controversial yet commonplace issue in the Call of Duty sphere, many players expected this problem to be minimized with the addition of Activision’s Richochet anti-cheat solution. For reasons unknown, that doesn’t seem to be the case as Modern Warfare 2 gamers have been running into hackers all day utilizing tools the likes of aimbots and perfect headshots or wall hacks to pinpoint players at all times. Clips proving evidence of this whole situation have started popping up online including Tiktoks posted by a Modern Warfare 2 Beta Plug on Twitter. The clip is from the perspective of a Modern Warfare 2 cheater who can be seen hacking clear as day to identify where enemy players are and then proceeding to kill them with iron sights aimed down at them. The player used an aimbot to score easy kills and went on a lengthy kill streak reaching 27 kills before the video ended.

Users have been uploading posts and threads on the rampant hacking issues during the beta period. One post created by user PunchUrLeg posted a clip showing a player ambushing another right before getting eliminated out of nowhere. The kill cam shows that the enemy player used an exploit to glitch through a building and shoot through a wall without ever being seen.

While things do seem concerning, there are still a few weeks before Infinity Ward can get back on track and address the whole issue. While Richochet will be available on Day 1 for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, we’re not sure if Infinity Ward will ever go about purging the community of hackers and cheaters from the video games entirely. Ricochet has done a half-decent job at banning hackers from the videogame but they just keep coming back one way or another or they sometimes go undetected.  Infinity Ward seriously needs to wrap their head around the issue and address the feedback given by the Modern Warfare 2 community. Will they ever go about eliminating and wiping out hackers and cheaters? Not quite, as hackers can find one way or another to cheat as they please but Infinity Ward should take more responsibility and try to minimize the hacking scene in Modern Warfare 2 if not completely eliminate it. So, what do you think of the hacking and cheating scene in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s beta? Let us know in the comments below.
